Organization & Mission
SOBEM is an independent, interdenominational organization. The members in this organization must be dedicated Christians who commit themselves for gospel outreach. Its financial supports are from both churches and individual Christian brothers and sisters. The Board of Directors are responsible for policy making, and the General Secretary is to execute those policies.
Reaching out to Chinese around the world through mass media to witness Christ
- Life stories and spiritual messages to witness Christ through traditional broadcast and new media platforms on internet.
- SOBEM programs turn into distributable media tools for churches and missionaries to spread out worldwide.
- LifeCare service via hotline and internet to help the needy towards Christ and church.
- Open events with music, life sharing and drama etc. to evangelize in communities.
Doctrinal Statement
SOBEM shall continually and steadfastly uphold and maintain the following Statement of Faith:
1. BIBLE
We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God, that the sixty six Books, as originally written, comprising the Old and New Testaments were inspired by the Spirit of God and therefore, entirely free from error, that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice and the true basis of Christian union;
2. GOD
We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit;
3. CHRIST
We believe in the absolute and essential deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, God the Son, in His eternal existence with the Father in Preincarnate glory, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return;
4. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, who convinces of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ;
5. MAN
We believe that man was divinely created in the image of GOD, that he sinned, becoming guilty before God, resulting in total depravity, thereby incurring physical and spiritual death;
6. SALVATION
We believe that salvation is by sovereign, elective grace of God that by the appointment of the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a vicarious, expiatory and propitiatory death, that justification is by faith alone in the all sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those whom God has effectually called shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected in the image of the Lord;
7. FUTURE THINGS
We believe in the personal bodily and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed and in the judgment and eternal conscious punishment of the wicked;
8. THE LOCAL CHURCH
We believe that a church is a company of believers, called out from the world, separate unto the Lord Jesus, voluntarily associated for the ministry of the Word, the mutual edification of its members, the propagation of the faith. We believe it is a sovereign, independent body, exercising its own divinely awarded gifts, precepts and privileges under the Lordship of Christ , the Great Head of the Church.

Founded in Toronto and began radio broadcast on CHIN 1540 and CIRV 88.7 FM
Began TV Broadcast on CFMT 47 (now OMNI.2)
Began national Chinese TV broadcast in major cities of Canada (now Fairchild TV)
Began TeleCare Hotline Ministry
Established Vancouver Working Committee
Began TV broadcast in Hong Kong on ATV
Established SOBEM USA Branch and USA Board of Directors
Started distribution of gospel CD/DVDs to support global mission
Established Hong Kong Working Committee
Began broadcast in Cambodia on CTV9
Began webcast on Google Video (now YouTube)
Established Australia Working Committee and New Zealand Working Committee
Began High Definition (HD) TV production
Began China production project with mainland media company to produce "Legend of Overseas Chinese" (LOC) series about overseas Chinese Christians
Began English Subtitling on DVDs
Finished production of first five LOC episodes and broadcast on mainland China media including TVB8, and finished a total of 55 episodes few years later to broadcast on various media throughout mainland China
Launched SOBEM's first mobile App (iOS version)
The LOC series uploaded to Tencent QQ, China's largest video platform
Launched official SOBEM Facebook facebook.com/sobem
Facelifted and enhanced sobem.org website, with new addition of a mobile version
SOBEM on TVB Anywhere to reach European countries and Australia through household OTT box
Launched SOBEM's first thematic short video platform ShiningMeUp.org linked to social and mobile media, as a big step of SOBEM new media strategies
SOBEM 30th Anniversary
SOBEM on TVB Anywhere started to reach out globally including Canada, Europe and Australia etc. through household OTT box and mobile app

The debut online events were held in September and December respectively during the pandemic period
The annual banquet switched from in-person setting to online due to the pandemic influence. Two respective shows approaching different audience are successfully held in March and May
